  • DEADLINE: Pakistan-US Journalists Exchange

    The East-West Center in Honolulu is accepting applications until October 8th for the 2014 Pakistan-United States Journalists Exchange, March 30-April 19, 2014. Pakistani journalists visit Washington, D.C., New York City and Columbia, Missouri. U.S. journalists visit Islamabad, Lahore and Karachi, Pakistan.

    Global Investigative Journalism Conference

    The Global Investigative Journalism Network is holding its 8th GIJC conference in Rio de Janeiro, in conjunction with two other seminal events in international muckraking: Latin America’s annual COLPIN conference on investigative reporting, and the national congress of ABRAJI, Brazil’s investigative journalism association.
  • DEADLINE: Fund for Investigative Journalism (FIJ) Grants

    FIJ encourages applications for investigations of economic inequities and climate change issues, in addition to watchdog reporting within the United States. Reporting for ethnic media is also strongly encouraged. Next deadline is October 21, 2013.
  • U.S. Agriculture and the Global Environment

    This year's Environmental Law Institute – Miriam Hamilton Keare Policy Forum, in Washington, DC, will focus on the environmental and human effects of modern agriculture through the lens of the Farm Bill. Open to the public; RSVP by Oct 14th.
  • Interactive Forum on Corporate Environmental Management in the Era of Big Data

    This half-day Environmental Law Institute conference in Washington, DC will include panel discussions on the applications and implications of big data for corporate environmental management, including a focus on traceability and food. Keynote speakers and panelists will include prominent corporate decision-makers, data scientists, practicing lawyers, academics and nongovernmental organization leaders. Open to the public; RSVP by Oct 16th.
  • ELI Annual Award Dinner

    ELI Annual Award Dinner

    ELI (the Environmental Law Institute) will present the 2013 Environmental Achievement Award to former US Secretary of State George P. Shultz and "green" philanthropist Thomas F. Steyer to recognize their outstanding leadership to reduce climate change and advance clean energy. The Award will be presented to Shultz and Steyer at ELI’s annual dinner on Tuesday evening, October 22 at the Omni Shoreham Hotel in Washington, D.C.
  • DEADLINE: Scripps Howard Foundation Semester in Washington Program — Undergrad

    November 1, 2013, is the deadline for students to apply for Spring and Summer 2014 reporting internships with the Scripps Howard Foundation Semester in Washington Program. Students studying print, online, broadcast and photo journalism are eligible for the program. Includes stipend of $2,520, plus free housing.
  • Twenty fellows, chosen from US professionals between the ages of 23 and 34, will complete a 9- to 12-month professional development program consisting of two high-level work phases in major German institutions and three European-wide seminars. Typically, at least five of the competitively chosen Bosch Fellows are from the field of Journalism/Mass Communications. Apply by November 1st.
