"KXL: White House Issues Veto Threat for House Pipeline Legislation"

"The White House [Tuesday] threatened to veto the latest version of House legislation designed to fast-track the controversial Keystone XL pipeline between Canada's oil sands and Gulf Coast refineries."

"In a veto recommendation issued a day ahead of the bill's expected House passage, the Office of Management and Budget said the measure 'conflicts with long-standing executive branch procedures regarding' the authority of the president, U.S. EPA, the Army Corps of Engineers, the State Department and the Interior Department to review various aspects of the proposed pipeline's impacts.

'The bill prevents the thorough consideration of complex issues that could have serious security, safety, environmental and other ramifications,' OMB added."
