"Top Dem Casts Doubt On Prospects For Waterways Bill In Lame Duck"

"The top Democrat on the House Transportation and Infrastructure Committee is casting doubt on the prospect of Congress finishing a waterways bill in the lame-duck session.

Rep. Peter DeFazio (D-Ore.) told reporters Tuesday that it didn’t look like the House and Senate were going to be able to reconcile their different versions of the Water Resources Development Act (WRDA), which both contain emergency funding for lead-contaminated communities like Flint, Mich.

'At this point, I would say that it doesn’t look very likely,'DeFazio said. 'The Senate is not engaging meaningfully.'"
