Virginia: "U.S. Probes Groundwater Contamination in Sandston"

"The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency is investigating the possibility that some people in the Sandston area of eastern Henrico County are being exposed to a chemical suspected of causing cancer."

"A test well found high concentrations of the chemical, tetrachloroethene, in the area last summer. Most people in the area, however, drink from public water supplies, officials said Thursday.

'The public drinking water in this area is not affected,' said Bonnie Smith, an EPA spokeswoman."
