If you're having trouble logging in, the problem can probably be solved easily. Please take a look at these questions and answers.
Are you a member in good standing of SEJ? Some features of the SEJ web page -- including the member directory, listserv archives and latest edition of SEJournal -- are accessible only to SEJ members using a password system. If you aren't a member, you can use the public version of SEJ's web site. Details on how to join SEJ are also available there. If you're an SEJ member but have not paid your dues, your web site access may have been suspended. Check with the SEJ office if you think this may be the case.
Have you received a user name and password from SEJ? You can get them by e-mailing the SEJ office or by calling (215) 884-8174 if you're a member in good standing.
Are you sure you're typing in your user name and password correctly? The password is case sensitive, so check your Caps Lock key.
Have you forgotten your user name and/or password? E-mail the SEJ office or call (215) 884-8174 and we'll give it to you again. You'll need to ask us for a new password, however, if you changed your original password and then forgot what you changed it to. Just let us know and we'll take care of it.
Have you enabled "cookies" on your web browser? Cookies are used to store your user name and password for the duration of your session, so you don't have to log in repeatedly. This information is flushed from your computer's memory at the end of your session, or after a long period of inactivity. To enable cookies on your browser, please follow the instructions at the bottom of this page.
Are you using Netscape version 6.0 or 6.1? If so, you many find that when you try to log into the SEJ members site, the login screen reappears after you click on the "login" button, and you are prompted to enter your password again. If you're sure your user name and password are correct, and your cookies are set properly, try doing a "forced reload" on your browser after your login attempt fails. To do this in Windows, hold down the "ctrl" and "shift" keys and then hit the "r" key. On the Macintosh, hold down the "command" and "shift" keys and then hit the "r" key. Previous versions of Netscape do not appear to be affected by this bug, and the problem appears to have been corrected in Netscape 7.1, which you can download here.
Still having problems logging on? Please send an e-mail message to the SEJ office, describing the problem and the hardware/software combination you are using in as much detail as possible. We'll do our best to solve the problem as quickly as possible.
