There are two steps you must complete to apply for membership in SEJ:
STEP 1: Before you apply for membership, you must register on sej.org
After you submit your registration, a message will be sent to sej@sej.org asking that your profile on sej.org be activated. Staff will activate your profile as soon as possible, but please note that between the hours of 5pm and 8am ET, SEJ staff is away from the office and your request will likely be activated next work day.
Once your profile has been activated by SEJ staff, you will receive an email with a link to log in and set your password. Once you have completed this, you will be able to access the membership application.

STEP 2: COMPLETE A MEMBERSHIP APPLICATION

Having a profile on sej.org is not the same as being a member. Anyone can register on the site, but only journalists, professors, students and others working in areas closely related to journalism are eligible for membership.
If you are accepted for membership, your profile will be added to the online SEJ directory, and you will be able to augment your profile with more information, opt into the freelance directory, and locate other SEJ members.

Secure online renewal is currently available for North American members only. Non-members are welcome to attend SEJ annual conferences and to subscribe to SEJournal. SEJ is a 501(c)3 non-profit educational association.
