QUALIFYING ENTRIES: Enter SEJ's 2015 Kevin Carmody Award for Investigative Reporting, Small Market category, with this form. If you enter more than once, you must fill out an entry form for EACH entry. You may enter an investigative story or series on a single environmental topic, published between March 1, 2014, and Feb. 28, 2015, published in a newspaper, magazine, wire service, newsletter or online, or aired on TV (including cable) or radio. Series that begin or end during the designated contest period qualify to five parts print and online and 60 minutes TV and radio. Related stories published or aired the same day count as one part. Judges will want to see evidence of digging to uncover information that would be missed in a lighter treatment of the story.
LINKS AND FILES: Upload low-resolution PDF or radio mp3 files (20MB max each), or paste links to your stories. If you are uploading files, ignore the fields for links; if you are using links, ignore the fields for uploading files. Do not include a link AND a file of the same story. Use only links that will not expire in 2015. If you are unable to upload files or paste links, you may prepare four copies of your stories according to SEJ Awards preparation rules.
BROADCAST TRANSCRIPTS: Each radio, television and audio/video component of a website must include a complete transcript. Upload a separate PDF transcript for each broadcast story you enter.
PAYMENT: When the form is complete, you will be redirected to a secure payment site where you can pay instantly by credit card or opt to mail a check. Your entry will not be considered until payment is received.
Online entry forms must be received by April 1, 2015, midnight your local time. Shipped materials must be postmarked April 1, 2015. If you have questions, email Awards Director Chris Bruggers or call her at (502) 641-1844.
