There are TWO STEPS to joining SEJ: Become a "registered user of sej.org," then fill out the membership application. IMPORTANT: Becoming a registered user of the Web site is not the same as applying for membership.
First, if you don't already have a "registered user of sej.org" profile, create one now.
After you create your profile and click "Submit," a message will alert SEJ staff that your profile needs to be activated by SEJ staff BEFORE you can apply for membership. (We'll activate as soon as possible on weekdays).
Once your profile has been activated by SEJ staff, you will receive an email with a link to log in and set your password. Please note, however, that having a profile on sej.org is not the same as being a member of SEJ.
When your profile has been activated, come back to this page and click the "Application Form" button below.
Then, fill out the application and wait to hear from the SEJ office.
Why two steps to join the Society of Environmental Journalists?
This process safeguards sej.org and staff time from spam bots. SEJ welcomes everyone to create a profile, tell us who you are, and browse our site, but only journalists, professors, students and others working in areas closely related to journalism are eligible for membership in the Society of Environmental Journalists.
For more information about eligibility, see SEJ's Bylaws and Membership Policies.
If you are accepted for membership, your profile will be added to the online SEJ directory, and you will be able to augment your profile with more information, opt into the freelance directory, and locate other SEJ members. Questions? Email the SEJ Office: sej at sej.org
