| About Me | Jane Kay works as a freelance journalist in San Francisco, and writes for Environmental Health News and The Daily Climate, online news services. She has covered the environment for the Arizona Daily Star in Tucson and the San Francisco Examiner and the San Francisco Chronicle. She is part of a band of full-time environmental writers that shaped national coverage of a wide range of issues over four decades, including water and air pollution, biological diversity, climate change and environmental health. She taught environmental reporting at UC Berkeley's Graduate School of Journalism through the 1990s and then directed the school's Environmental Journalism Program under a Hewlett Foundation grant. Kay has won numerous national, state and regional awards for enterprise stories, and is a member of Society of Environmental Journalists, Society of Professional Journalists and the Pacific Media Workers Guild. Her chief interest is keeping independent, honest environmental reporting alive. |
