| About Me | For the last three years, I've blogged daily about retirement for Bankrate.com and occasionally contributed longer retirement stories. I also publish FreelanceSuccess.com, a weekly subscription trade publication and online community for professional word wranglers. It has been a profitable online venture for the last 13 years. For seven years, I edited a daily newsletter for the National Association of Realtors. I spent a year and a half covering unemployment at the height of the downturn for eight Michigan dailies owned by Advance Publications. Last year, I worked one day a week for McGraw-Hill's trade publications, assembling and editing a newsletter for subscribers to Engineering News Record (ENR.com). During my 17 years as a freelancer, I've written thousands of stories for dozens of clients, including working weekly for four years covering automotive for Newsweek Japan, writing drive-time radio news for UPI for three years, and covering health daily for Medscape for two. Before I became a Lone Ranger, I worked for Gannett Co. Inc., for 10 years as the editor of a succession of mid-size daily newspapers. Before that I was a reporter and copy editor. |
