About Me Michael Cockram writes on the environment, architecture and building technology for Architectural Record, GreenSource (McGraw Hill), Architecture Week and other publications. He has a Masters of Architecture degree from the University of Oregon, and has taught there regularly an adjunct professor for sixteen years. In Architectural Record Magazine's Design Intelligence national rankings, the University of Oregon architecture program is placed first in sustainable design and practices. Michael co-founded then directed an architecture/historic preservation study abroad program in Italy's Ossola Valley for eight years. With students, he also founded DesignBridge, a university/community partnership, which has grown into an integral part of the curriculum. His professional architecture experience includes working with the late AIA Gold Medalist E. Fay Jones and recently with solar architecture pioneer L.M. Holder III FAIA in Austin, Texas. He is a professional illustrator contributing drawings to Courtyards by John Reynolds (John Wiley and Sons) and other architectural texts and publications.
