DEADLINE: Reynolds High School Journalism Institute
The Reynolds High School Journalism Institute, part of the American Society of News Editors' High School Journalism Initiative, is an intensive two-week journalism training program for high school teachers. Instruction is based on the core tenets of journalism and the skills needed to produce a top-notch scholastic publication, online or on paper. Topics include: reporting, writing, editing, photojournalism, layout and design, opinion pages, journalistic credibility ethics and responsibilities, the future of journalism and business-side skills.
In 2011, 175 teachers will be competitively selected for the program. Application deadline is March 1st.
THERE IS NO COST TO THE TEACHER OR SCHOOL.
KEY TOPICS: Multimedia reporting, writing, editing, photojournalism, online and digital posting, layout and design, opinion pages, journalism credibility, ethics and responsibilities, the future of journalism and business-side skills. First Amendment matters, privacy and the state of scholastic press freedoms are also key topics.
