DEADLINE: SXSW David Carr Prize for Emerging Writers

Student writers (or aspiring student writers) are invited to enter the David Carr Prize for SXSW 2020, March 13-16 in Austin, TX. Open to high school, undergraduate and graduate students (PhD & Masters included) to honor David Carr’s interest in the convergence of new media, technology and culture by entering an essay or short story of 1,500 words or less (minimum 500 words) in the SXSW David Carr Prize Essay competition. Essay content can be creative writing or factual, citing sources as necessary. Deadline is Dec 6, 2019.

This year's prompt question for this writing competition is: "What do we do with our time and lives if society no longer depends on us to work?"

The five finalists for the competition each receive a Platinum badge ($1,725 value) for SXSW. One winner will be awarded the David Carr Prize at the Interactive Innovation Awards during SXSW and will have an opportunity to give a short speech upon acceptance.
