Boston University's 2021 Summer Journalism Institute gives students ages 14 to 18 the opportunity to expand their skills and prepare for college during a time of uncertainly and limited travel due to ongoing pandemic. News Hack Arizona is Feb 18-19 on the University of Arizona campus in Tucson. The training is hands-on group work to learn to use sensors to collect your own data for stories. The sensors can measure noise and air quality among other things.

The Institute for Journalism and Natural Resources will bring a group of journalists to Waukesha, the first U.S. city outside of the Great Lakes watershed to receive permission to withdraw water under the Great Lakes Compact, to see how the city will get water from Lake Michigan, treat it and send it back to the basin while also discussing its bigger-picture impacts. The intensive, fully funded FASPE Journalism program in professional ethics and ethical leadership will take fellows to Germany and Poland, Jun 19- Jul 3, 2026, to examine the actions and choices of German and international journalists in covering and supporting Nazi policies. Apply by Jan 4.

The Fund for Investigative Journalism (FIJ) and the Schuster Institute for Investigative Journalism at Brandeis University will award fellowships and grants up to $9,000 for independent investigative reporting by women and journalists of color. Apply by Oct 1.
