The Fund for Investigative Journalism and the Schuster Institute for Investigative Journalism will award grants and fellowships to four independent U.S. reporters to investigate significant systemic or social justice issues. The Climate Change Media Partnership led by EJN, has announced Fellowship opportunities for journalists to attend the 22nd Conference of the Parties (COP 22) to the United Nations Convention on Climate Change in Marrakesh, Morocco this November. Deadline to apply is July 8, 2016 at 5PM EST.

The 2026-2027 Fulbright U.S. Scholar Program offers >60 awards in the fields of communications and journalism and over 400 awards overall. Apply by September 15, 2025.

The Association of Health Care Journalists selects a small number of journalists annually from a specific region of the country for this opportunity. The 2016-17 fellowship class will come from Michigan, Wisconsin, Ohio, Illinois and Indiana. Deadline: Jun 17.

Learn how to navigate the junction of “effective” and “pretty” at Berkeley Advanced Media Institute's workshop. You’ll learn the tools that will help present complex data to an audience, in a way that’s easily accessible to the public, as well as techniques for conveying the story behind that data.

This day-long Media Law Resource Center Institute program at the New York Times will cover practical advice for journalists to stay clear of costly libel and privacy suits, navigate the reporter-source relationship, avoid copyright traps, learn about digital law and understand insurance coverage options. Includes a round table discussion with editors and writers who will share their tips and strategies.

Working journalists and recent grads: Spend June 6-10, 2016 at The New England Center for Investigative Reporting, based at Boston University’s College of Communication and at the studios of WGBH News, learning valuable investigative reporting skills and earning a certificate. $1,000 tuition plus meals. From Jun 5-11, 2016, IJNR will lead a select group of journalists on a week-long tour of North Dakota's prairie pothole region, exploring the stories that arise when environments and economics intersect. Apply by Apr 13.
