Workshops and Fellowships

Fellowships are awarded to journalists from Eastern and Western Europe and the United States who want to spend two semesters engaging in research at the International Center for Journalism of the Freie Universitaet Berlin. Deadline is May 15, 2024.

The East-West Center in Honolulu is accepting applications until October 12th for the 2012 Pakistan-United States Journalists Exchange, March 21-April 7, 2012. Pakistani journalists visit Washington, D.C., New York City and Columbia, Missouri. U.S. journalists visit Islamabad and Karachi, Pakistan.

The National Association of Hispanic Journalists is convening a Spanish-language workshop in Miami, during SEJ's 21st Annual Conference, for reporters to learn video and audio skills. Open to SEJ conference attendees and NAHJ members only.

IJNR, the Institutes for Journalism & Natural Resources, is inviting applications for its Energy Country Institute, Nov 4-12, 2011. Learn about the people, landscapes and natural resources of the Four Corners region. Santa Fe will serve as the hub city for this journey through parts of southern Colorado and northern New Mexico. Deadline: Sep 30th.

USC Annenberg Center for Health Journalism's expenses-paid California Fellowship, Mar 18-20, 2025, is open to California-based professional journalists (including freelancers and national correspondents with California-focused projects). Includes stipend, training, potential grants and specialized mentoring. Apply by Dec 18.

The International Reporting Project is accepting applications until June 14th from U.S. journalists for a media reporting trip to Kazakhstan, a huge but little-known Asian country whose government has been active in global nuclear nonproliferation talks. The trip, August 3-14, 2013, is a unique opportunity to visit a key country of 17 million persons bordering Russia and China.
