The Boston University 2021 Summer Journalism Institute [1] gives students ages 14 to 18 the opportunity to expand their skills and prepare for college during a time of uncertainly and limited travel due to this year’s pandemic.

Each instructor is also a working journalist, so what’s taught is grounded in real-life experience. Each lesson is tied to its practical application, by giving students reporting assignments they can do from home. Each day is a sample of life as a news reporter.

Session 1: June 21 to July 2, 2021
Session 2: July 5 to July 16, 2021
Session 3: July 19 to July 30, 2021

Deadline: June 1, 2021. Sessions can fill up, so we encourage you to start the application process early.

We provide scholarships or financial aid to individuals who demonstrate a financial need. In awarding scholarships, we strongly consider students who are socioeconomically disadvantaged, or who have overcome substantial educational or economic obstacles or personal adversity and come from diverse communities. Our organization also provides financial aid for U.S. high school students who demonstrate a financial need.
