Since 1950, the Sidney Hillman Foundation awards the annual Hillman Prizes in Journalism, [1] honoring excellence in investigative journalism and commentary in service of the common good. The categories include books (non-fiction), newspaper, magazine, broadcast and opinion/analysis journalism.
The contest is open to journalists and subjects globally, although work must have been intended for and be widely accessible to a U.S. audience. Winners will be awarded a $5,000 honorarium and a certificate at at our annual ceremony in New York City, on May 7, 2024.

The Hillman Foundation also awards the The Sidney, [2] a $500 honorarium given monthly for an outstanding piece of investigative journalism that fosters social and economic justice.
