The Society of Professional Journalists (SPJ) Sigma Delta Chi Awards [1] recognize the best in professional journalism in categories [2] covering print, radio, television, newsletters, art/graphics, online and research.

Recent and new additions include awards for Consumer/Retail Reporting, Tech Reporting, Crime Reporting, Regional Political Reporting and Cultural Criticism as well as Spanish-language categories that are open to all platforms. Note there are some newly expanded categories for online-only publications.

The contest is open to any work published or broadcast by a U.S. or international media outlet. Freelance work is eligible.

Deadlines: Jan 6, 2026 (earlybird); Feb 18, 2026 (regular).
