The multibillion-dollar Green Climate Fund is supposed to help developing countries slow and adapt to climate change. Established after the 2009 Copenhagen climate talks under the U.N. Framework Convention on Climate Change, the Green Climate Fund has offered many kinds of news to environmental reporters.

So the fund's information disclosure policies — and the controversies they have raised — are important.

The Green Climate Fund board adopted a permanent Information Disclosure Policy at its March 2016 meeting. The policy allowed the board to avoid disclosure of executive sessions, but mandated webcasts of its official meetings. NGOs have criticized the fund's disclosure policy for long deadlines and broad exemptions.
