Secret CRS Reports of Interest to Environmental Journalists [1]

March 7, 2012

The WatchDog does not know why Congress still refuses to publish unclassified reports on subjects of general public interest done by the Congressional Research Service, even though they are funded by taxpayer dollars. It certainly doesn't keep the public from reading them. Thanks to the Federation of American Scientists' Project on Government Secrecy, you can read these:

  • "Changes in the Arctic: Background and Issues for Congress," [2] Congressional Research Service (R41153), February 27, 2012, by Ronald O'Rourke.
  • "Energy Projects on Federal Lands: Leasing and Authorization," [3] Congressional Research Service (R40806), February 1, 2012, by Adam Vann.
  • "Financial Performance of the Major Oil Companies, 2007-2011," [4] Congressional Research Service (R42364), February 17, 2012, by Robert Pirog.
  • "Rising Gasoline Prices 2012," [5] Congressional Research Service (R42382), March 1, 2012, by Neelesh Nerurkar and Robert Pirog.
  • "Keeping America’s Pipelines Safe and Secure: Key Issues for Congress," [6] Congressional Research Service (R41536), February 13, 2012, by Paul W. Parfomak.
  • "The Role of Local Food Systems in U.S. Farm Policy," [7] Congressional Research Service (R42155), January 24, 2012, by Renée Johnson, Tadlock Cowan, and Randy Alison Aussenberg.
  • "Smart Meter Data: Privacy and Cybersecurity," [8] Congressional Research Service (R42338), February 3, 2012, by Brandon J. Murrill, Edward C. Liu, and Richard M. Thompson II.
