"SPJToolbox" Catalogues Vast Gumshoe Resources [1]

May 28, 2014

If you are a serious journalist and have not yet discovered the "SPJ Toolbox," you are in for a treat. Help has arrived.

The website offers sources for useful information on a wide range of topics of interest, especially to investigative reporters. Topics include protecting sources, privacy, data visualization, digital verification, transcription tools, rights-free photos, mobile journalism, public records, copy-editing, and more.

It was run by founder-editor Mike Reilley, who teaches journalism at DePaul University in Chicago. The site is hosted by the Society of Professional Journalists. He is an online, multiplatform, convergence kind of guy whom you can follow on Twitter (@journtoolbox [2]).

Where else would you find out about the EPA National Center for Computational Toxicology or the U.S. Geological Survey's collection of 400,000 copyright-free photos?

Check the site out here. [3]
