This week, Liga para a Protecção da Natureza in Portugal will give stage to emerging themes, constructive discussions and speakers who excel in good practices of information. "April brings spring showers — or it used to, at least. Here in the Portland area, this year, it also brought snow, hail, wind and thunder, along with downed trees, power outages and traffic accidents. Similar abnormal weather occurred throughout the country, with several regions experiencing mid-April blizzards.

That’s climate chaos for you: a series of unpredictable and dangerous events making life more complicated and deadly.

Op-Ed: "We Have the Technology to Stop Superspreading Without Masks" [4]

Germicidal ultraviolet light is a practical, proven, affordable technology that has been used successfully to reduce airborne disease in public indoor spaces for decades. It has been overlooked.

"At every stage of the pandemic, a disproportionate number of coronavirus infections have been traced to a relatively small number of gatherings, also known as superspreader events. The recent Gridiron dinner, after which over 70 people tested positive, including members of the Biden administration, is just the latest example.

Over 137 Million Americans Live In Areas With Poor Air Quality: Report [17]

"Despite decades of environmental efforts, over 40% of Americans — more than 137 million people — live in cities and states with poor air quality, a new report says. And, in addition to cars and factories, wildfires are increasingly contributing to unhealthy air.

For the past 22 years, the American Lung Association has produced its annual State of the Air report, which analyzes the air quality on a local level for communities across the country. This year's study found that more Americans were exposed to unhealthy air, at times deemed hazardous, compared to previous years.
