Investigative Reporters and Editors provides assistance to attend a Data Journalism Bootcamp or the NICAR Conference, March 6-9, 2025: Computer-assisted reporting training for university educators to better equip their students to be effective watchdogs through the use of data. Deadline: Jan 6.

DEADLINE: Hong Kong International Film Festival [12]

The 2026 HKIFF takes place April 1-12. Films must have been completed after Jan. 1, 2025. English subtitles are required for non-English language films. Cash prizes in multiple categories. Deadlines: Nov 2 (earlybird); Dec 31 (late).

DEADLINE: NRDC Climate Storytelling Fellowship [13]

The fellowship will award $20,000 to three writers to support revisions of a feature screenplay or pilot that engages with climate change in a compelling way. Receive creative support and mentorship from an established screenwriter with an interest in climate storytelling. Apply by Nov 28, 2025.

DEADLINE: European Press Prize [14]

Journalists from all 46 countries of the Council of Europe, Belarus and Russia are invited to present their best work produced in the past year. They have the opportunity to become Prize Laureates and be awarded 10,000 euro prizes. Deadline is Dec 14, 2025.

DEADLINE: Metcalf Institute Climate and Environment Science Fellowship for Local Journalism [15]

Metcalf Institute's first cohort for this new fellowship will focus on 10 newsrooms in Connecticut, Rhode Island and Massachusetts. Includes training sessions, coaching and $1000 stipend. Newsrooms that are by and for underserved communities are strongly encouraged to apply. Deadline: Nov 21, 2024.
