UNITY: Journalists of Color Inc. 2012 Convention in Las Vegas [2]

UNITY: Journalists of Color, Inc. is a coalition of the four alliances, the Asian American Journalists Association, the National Association of Hispanic Journalists, the Native American Journalists Association and the National Lesbian and Gay Journalists Association. The 2012 convention will offer numerous education sessions, students projects and networking opportunities, including a job fair and career coaching services.

National Association of Black Journalists Annual Convention [3]

The NABJ will gather in Cleveland, Ohio, Aug 6-10, for the 2025 Annual Convention, a multiday event for journalism education, career development, networking and industry innovation.

Save the Planet International Eco Forum in Bulgaria [4]

The Save the Planet conference is a communication platform for professionals from South-East Europe involved in the environment, waste management and recycling spheres. The 2012 program will include sessions and discussions on industry challenges and technical developments. Attendees will be able to see the latest products and solutions showcased at the parallel exhibition.

DEADLINE: Big Sky International Documentary Pitch Session [6]

The Big Sky Documentary Film Festival is hosting the annual Big Sky International Documentary Pitch Session on Feb 25, 2016. The pitch will take place as part of Big Sky Doc Shop (Feb 22-26), a five-day nonfiction industry forum during the annual film festival. Submission deadline: Dec 31, 2015.

DEADLINE: Funding for Women-Led Projects [7]

The McCormick New Media Women Entrepreneurs program will fund U.S.-based individuals who have original ideas for new Web sites, mobile news services, or other entrepreneurial initiatives. The program will provide $14,000 in funding to each of four women. Projects must launch (at least a live beta) within ten months and must have a plan for continuing after initial funding has ended. Deadline to apply: January 27, 2012.

 

NY Enviro Group Says Junked Thermostats Cause Major Mercury Pollution [8]

"ALBANY, N.Y. — While health and environmental groups are praising the Environmental Protection Agency for reining in mercury emissions from power plants, a New York group says discarded thermostats remain a major source of mercury contamination in the state."
