Meet SEJ member Holly Haworth! An essayist and reporter, Holly's work is most often focused on history and the environment, culture and nature. She is currently at work on her first book, "A Field Guide to Listening," forthcoming from Bloomsbury, which questions what it means to listen and how listening can help us hear patterns at play in our relationships to our ecosystems. Holly is a recipient of the Middlebury Fellowship in Environmental Journalism. In 2015, she was Writer-in-Residence at Guadalupe Mountains National Park. Holly earned an MFA from Hollins University, where she was a Jackson Fellow. She is also a certified Southern Appalachian Naturalist. You can find her work in The New York Times Magazine, Orion, Sierra, In These Times, Oxford American, Lapham's Quarterly, the On Being radio program blog and elsewhere. Holly's work has been included in The Best American Science and Nature Writing and listed as notable in The Best American Travel Writing. In addition to writing, Holly is an educator, a forager, an herbalist and a naturalist.

When we asked Holly how SEJ membership has made her job easier, she said, "The weekly SEJournal [2] is fantastic! It keeps me informed about the latest issues and emerging stories, and constantly offers tools and ideas to keep my reporting skills sharp. I don't feel alone as a journalist. Because of SEJ, I feel I have a place I can go for support, ideas and help when I need it." Join Holly at SEJ today [3]!
