"Mexico welcomes the delegates of Parties to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change and the Kyoto Protocol, observers, international officials, media representatives and participants from organized civil society. Our country will encourage a plural and inclusive conference allowing for the building of understandings among Parties in order to face the global challenge of climate change."

The sixteenth Conference of the Parties (COP) and the sixth Conference of the Parties [1] serving as the meeting of the Parties to the Kyoto Protocol (CMP) will be held in Cancun, Mexico, from 29 November to 10 December 2010, together with the thirty-third sessions of the subsidiary bodies and the fifteenth session of the AWG-KP and thirteenth session of the AWG-LCA.
