Today, environmental journalists are charting a new digital terrain, but this changing media landscape can be tough to navigate. Come explore emerging forms of environmental storytelling — online video and long-form narratives, data visualization, podcasting, social media, and more — at a day-long workshop sponsored by the Society of Environmental Journalists in New York City on July 10, 2015.

Join innovators from digital news sites, public radio, and more, plus top editors from the New York Times Magazine, Popular Science, MediaStorm and Nautilus, for this hands-on program, hosted by the cutting-edge Graduate School of Journalism at City University of New York.

The workshop will inspire new approaches to your stories and your beat, provide space for developing your new ideas, and offer immediate feedback from experts.

We’ll begin with lightning presentations by innovators in the field, then spend the bulk of the workshop in breakout brainstorming sessions led by expert facilitators who will help teams develop stories from inspiration to execution. Teams will then step up to the mic at a signature SEJ Pitchfest to sell their best story ideas to leading editors.

This workshop is designed for journalists, communicators, and students. Registration includes breakfast, lunch, and coffee breaks.
