"NOAA: Prepare Now for an 'Above-Normal' Atlantic Hurricane Season" [1]

"CAMP SPRINGS, Md. -- This week, May 22 through 28, is national Hurricane Preparedness Week and NOAA's Climate Prediction Center, a division of the National Weather Service, is forecasting an above-normal hurricane season this year for the Atlantic basin.

Across the entire Atlantic Basin for the six-month season, which begins June 1, NOAA is predicting three to six major hurricanes of Category 3, 4 or 5 with winds of 111 miles per hour or higher.

There is a 70 percent likelihood that this prediction will came to pass, NOAA said in its seasonal prediction for the coming hurricane season."

Environment News Service had the story May 25, 2011.
