Tropical Storm Barry: Hurricane Intensity Possible Before Landfall [1]

"Less than 24 hours before landfall, the National Hurricane Center predicts Tropical Storm Barry will approach Morgan City early Saturday, bringing flood-inducing rain and storm surge with it.

According to the NHC in its 4 a.m. update, Barry has maximum sustained winds of 50 mph, and it has started to pivot a bit, now moving west-northwest at 5 mph.

It’s still possible Barry could become a hurricane before landfall, but the injection of dry air into the storm’s center of circulation has cut off its ability to rapidly intensify. "
