EPA To Discontinue Federal Register Listserves [1]

November 4, 2009

EPA disappointed some information-consuming customers this month when it announced it was discontinuing a series of daily e-mails of new Federal Register notices to a listserve, or distribution list.

Many reporters scan the Federal Register daily to discover news of upcoming agency regulatory actions. Before they were discontinued November 1, 2009, EPA had 13 different lists for Federal Register notices. The information is still available to reporters and the public via other channels, including web sites and RSS feeds.

The announcement went out over the listserves. Those listserves were part of the Regulations.gov Web site, which covers most federal agencies, but is administered by EPA.
