Researchers, Health Groups Urge Congress Not To Black Out Carcinogens Report [1]

House Republicans' efforts to force scientists to back off findings that formaldehyde and styrene can cause cancer have inspired some push-back. More than 70 scientists from research and health groups wrote House and Senate Appropriations Committee leaders September 4, 2012, urging them not to cut funds for the biennial Report on Carcinogens.
House Appropriations Labor-HHS Subcommittee Chairman Denny Rehberg (R-MT) drafted an amendment cutting all funds for the report after excoriating federal health agencies for including formaldehyde and styrene in the most recent report on chemicals that can cause cancer.
