Two Sides of the Climate Coin: Sea Level Rise and Extreme Weather

Coastal communities in many parts of the world face a double threat from climate change: sea level rise and more frequent extreme rain events. These interacting crises compound flood risks and present challenges for infrastructure, environmental justice, public safety, and local economies.

Panelists will offer perspectives on the challenges and solutions in Rhode Island, a global hot spot for sea level rise.

Frank Carini, Editor, EcoRI, moderator; Kate Michaud, Town Manager, Warren, RI; Jon Nelson, Visiting Professor, Institute Institute at Brown for Environment and Society, Brown University; Elder González Trejo, Sustainability Policy Associate, City of Providence, RI
