"Hurricane Delta Forecast To Make Historic Landfall Along Gulf Coast" [1]
"After becoming a hurricane over the Caribbean on Monday evening, Delta continued to rapidly gain strength Tuesday morning and is forecast to reach Category 4 strength or greater. AccuWeather forecasters are warning that the powerful storm is on a path to strike the central Gulf Coast of the United States prior to the end of this week.
At 5 a.m. EDT Tuesday, data from an Air Force Reserve Hurricane Hunter aircraft indicated that Delta’s maximum sustained winds had increased to near 100 mph (155 km/h) with higher gusts, making Delta a Category 2 hurricane on the Saffir-Simpson Hurricane Wind Scale. A Category 2 hurricane has maximum sustained winds of 96-110 mph, while a major hurricane has sustained winds of 111 mph or greater.
By 8 a.m., maximum sustained winds had increased to 110 mph. The hurricane is moving west-northwest at 15 mph (24 km/h). The center was situated about 370 miles (595 km) east-southeast of Cozumel, Mexico."
