"With Keystone Under Scrutiny, TransCanada Battles Pipe Corrosion" [1]

"BEAUMONT, Texas -- The sound was deafening as workers sandblasted a section of the Gulf Coast Project, the southern installment of TransCanada Corp.'s Keystone XL Pipeline project."

"The workers stripped bare a segment of two pipe ends that had recently been welded. Behind them, another worker waited with plastic sheathing to cover the pipe.

For the crew installing the Gulf Coast Project, this is among the standard pipeline industry practices for combating corrosion. Later that day, another crew would apply a special coating they had heated to 150 degrees Fahrenheit."

Nathanial Gronewold reports for EnergyWire June 3, 2013. [2]
