"Power Plant Opponents Watch Permit Process Closely" [1]

"SCOTTSBURG -- Opponents of planned wood-burning power plants in southern Indiana are watching closely as state officials finish work on an air permit that would dictate what types of wood products the first of the plants can burn.

Residents near the two proposed plants worry about potential pollution and want the state to narrowly define the plants' fuel as wood chips and other unvarnished scrap lumber to ensure that emissions are as free as possible of any potential hazards.

Liberty Green Renewables LLC announced last year plans to build a $100 million electricity-generating plant near Milltown in the first of what the Harrison County-based partnership projects will be three such Indiana facilities.

A second plant is planned near Interstate 65, south of Scottsburg's city limits. Both plants would generate 32 megawatts of power."

The Associated Press had the story January 31, 2010.
