"Expect fireworks in the House as lawmakers move on a number of contentious items in the final legislative days before a scheduled seven-week long recess.

Members are set to consider a 2017 spending bill for the Interior Department and the Environmental Protection Agency in the coming week. The $32.1 billion bill is controversial enough on its own: it cuts programs by $64 million from last year's levels and looks to block several major EPA rules.

But the House is also likely to debate several contentious amendments to the legislation when it hits the floor. Members filed 160 amendments to the bill, and while not all of those will be debated, several promise big fights if they are."
