Hostwriter [2], a nonprofit organization, is an open network that helps journalists to easily collaborate across borders. Their mission is to raise the quality of media coverage by providing local contacts around the globe. They currently (as of August 2018) connect more than 3,600 journalists – at all career levels – from 135 countries to seek and offer help, whether in the form of local advice, story collaboration or accommodation.

In addition to the free online network, they hold an annual #HostwriterPrize [3] contest to promote cross-border collaboration among journalists. Entries must be for story ideas to be done with at least one other colleague. Cash prizes are awarded in each of two categories.
