EPA Names 31 Areas Not Meeting Fine Particulate Air Standards [1]

October 14, 2009

EPA on October 8, 2009, designated 31 areas across the country as "nonattainment" areas for fine particle pollution (known as PM 2.5). These communities will have to come up with plans for reducing fine particle pollution. Is yours one of them?

EPA tightened its 24-hour standard for PM 2.5 in 2006. The new designations are based on monitoring data from 2006-2008.
