In January of 2007, the Society of Environmental Journalists added a special section to its Web site to help reporters cover climate change - which seems to be shaping up as one of the biggest environmental stories of the next decade.

"Climate Change: A Guide to the Information and Disinformation" tries to help reporters sort through the bewildering array of science and technical detail - and to sift the solid facts from the plentiful hype on both sides of the policy debate. It includes a virtual Rolodex of some of the top science experts on the subject, "Who Ya Gonna Call?" [3]

In coming weeks, SEJ will be expanding and improving this area of its Web site. This week, we have added a new section guiding reporters through to the key findings and sections of the various IPCC Fourth Assessment Report Working Group reports that have come out this year. They constitute the "state of the science" - and probably will remain so for the next five years. Find them here. [4]

Soon, we will be adding a collection of resources to help reporters find regional stories and regional experts they can use in finding the climate stories that matter to their audiences - and bringing them home to the local level.
