"CDC Scientific Report Resumes Publication After Unprecedented Pause" [1]

"But three studies about bird flu remain on hold even as the outbreak spreads."

"The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention resumed publishing its weekly scientific report Thursday after an unprecedented pause, but information about the bird flu virus that was supposed to appear remained on hold even as the outbreak spreads.

Three studies about the H5N1 bird flu virus were scheduled to be released in the weekly Morbidity and Mortality Weekly Report (MMWR) on Jan. 23, according to multiple CDC officials who spoke on the condition of anonymity out of fear of retaliation. But release of the results was abruptly halted when the Trump administration instructed federal health agencies to pause all external communications on Jan. 21, the administration’s first full day in office.

The CDC issued two reports about wildfires Thursday. One concerns the level of PFAS, a group of chemicals that don’t break down easily, found in firefighters who responded to the 2023 Maui fire. The second is a report about an increase in wildfire-related emergency department visits during the Los Angeles fires."
