"Chemical Makers Get Stricter Label Rules for Product Hazards" [1]

"Chemical manufacturers and distributors will have to meet new federal requirements for labeling hazards on commercial products, under a final OSHA rule released Friday.

Dow Inc., The Chemours Co., and DuPont de Nemours Inc. are among the companies that would likely have to comply with the US Occupational Safety and Health Administration’s revised “hazard communication standard"—or “HazCom” for short.

The rule is intended to improve the protection of workers and align US requirements closer to international guidance set by the United Nations in 2017. The regulation takes effect July 19.

Employers who use chemical products that have safety data sheets will also have to update their training and chemical hazard communication programs for workers."
