"Goldman Sachs Group Inc. will not finance oil and gas drilling in the Arctic, including the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge (ANWR), the firm disclosed in new policy guidelines yesterday.

Goldman also pledged to direct $750 billion of "financing, investing and advisory activity" toward climate transition and sustainable investment.

The firm's new stance mirrors international banks like Barclays PLC and the Royal Bank of Scotland that have similarly restricted fossil fuel investments. But green groups note Goldman is the first big American bank to void funding for new Arctic drilling."
