"POTLOTEK — A Cape Breton community in the midst of a water crisis has been promised that the problem will be fixed, but it may be as long as three years before clean water is flowing through the taps.

On Tuesday, residents of the Potlotek First Nation welcomed top Health Canada advisors and representatives of Indigenous and Northern Affairs Canada (INAC) to the reserve for an open meeting and exchange of information that was, at times, very emotional.

Many community members, including Bernadette Marshall, told the federal officials that water on the reserve is to blame for many of the ailments affecting residents of Potlotek, also known as Chapel Island."
