"A key EPA program that helps state and local governments boost drinking water quality would be extended by three years under a broad water infrastructure deal agreed to by House and Senate negotiators this week, which also takes aim at the permitting process for hydropower projects.

The Drinking Water State Revolving Fund would be authorized at more than $4.4 billion over three years in the new legislation, which incorporates provisions from a bipartisan measure, H.R. 3387, that passed the House Energy and Commerce Committee last year (E&E News PM, July 27, 2017).

The House may vote as soon as Thursday on the underlying water projects compromise, S. 3021, which will be brought to the floor under fast-track authority."
