EPA Proposes Expanding Scope of TRI to Additional Industries [1]

July 13, 2011

EPA has quietly revealed it is considering extending Toxics Release Inventory (TRI) reporting requirements to six additional industries. The last time EPA expanded TRI industry coverage (during the Clinton administration), it set off industry backlash that lasted a decade.

The new industries would be: "Iron Ore Mining, Phosphate Mining, Municipal Waste Incineration, Industrial Dry Cleaning, Petroleum Bulk Storage, and Steam-Only Production from Fossil Fuels," according to the agency's June 2011 Action Initiation List. [2]
