"Clean energy programs within the Department of Energy would see major increases under the fiscal 2020 Energy-Water Development spending bill unveiled by House Democratic appropriators today.

The $46.4 billion proposal, which will be marked up in subcommittee tomorrow, represents a roughly 4% increase over the $44.6 billion measure signed into law last fall (E&E News PM, Sept. 10, 2018).

It would hand $37.1 billion to DOE, which a Democratic summary says is $1.4 billion more than current levels and $5.6 billion more than the requested level.

As expected, the new Democratic majority devoted considerable resources to clean and renewable energy programs at the department.

The Office of Energy Efficiency and Renewable Energy would receive $2.65 billion, or $273 million more than current levels, according to the summary. That would hand the office $2.3 billion more than the request."
