"The Senate Energy and Natural Resources Committee is expected to release its long-awaited energy reform package this week, as panel leaders prepare for floor time to open up.

Chairwoman Lisa Murkowski (R) told the Alaska Legislature last Tuesday that she intends to roll out the bill this week.

Murkowski said before last week's recess that she and ranking member Joe Manchin (D-W.Va.) were sorting through the last details of the package, which will comprise energy-related bills that have previously passed the panel.

The timing of a floor debate is unclear, but Murkowski told reporters before the break that Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.) "keeps asking about" the energy bill as he looks for bipartisan legislation to bring to the floor."
