Attention Journalists! Join Covering Climate Now on June 11 at 5:00 p.m. ET for a “Talking Shop” webinar on how newsrooms can incorporate racial and environmental justice framing in their coverage of the climate crisis and its solutions.
CCNow welcomes Varshini Prakash, the 27-year-old co-founder of the Sunrise Movement, which has been instrumental in pushing the idea of an intersectional Green New Deal onto the public agenda. Prakash will explain why so many young climate activists see the fights for climate action and racial justice as indivisible, and how this perspective could be reflected in news coverage. We’ll also hear from stellar journalistic colleagues about how they and their newsrooms have grappled with these issues. Along with Prakash, they’ll discuss under-covered stories that need telling, how to know when justice issues are part of a given climate story, and how to convince editors and executives these stories matter.
As always in our "Talking Shop" series, collegial Q&A will occupy most of the hour. The session is by and for journalists, and you or your news outlet do NOT have to be CCNow members to participate.
