Deadline: Anja Niedringhaus Courage in Photojournalism Award

Event Date:
January 19, 2018

The International Women's Media Foundation's Anja Niedringhaus Courage in Photojournalism Award was created to honor the life and work of Pulitzer Prize-winning AP photographer and IWMF Courage in Journalism Award winner Anja Niedringhaus (1965-2014), who was killed on assignment in Afghanistan.

It celebrates women photojournalists whose work inspires us to take action and better understand the world. This courageous reporting manifests in many different forms. Courage is reflected in everyday life, beyond the front lines of conflict, and thus entrants' work should reflect the values of Anja Niedringhaus through compassion, humanity and a commitment to capturing the whole picture.

Recipient of the Anja Niedringhaus Courage in Photojournalism Award will receive a cash prize of $20,000 and have her work showcased at the World Press Photo Festival for Visual Journalism in April 2018. Apply yourself or submit a nomination by the January 19, 2018 deadline. Entrants must be full-time women photojournalists of any nationality.
